IT will be an all-Ross final on April 21 when Juniors Ladies face Juniors Women in the appropriately named Ross Invitational County Cup.

First up on a muddy and wet Sportsground pitch, Ladies walloped Westfields 11-1, before the Women then beat Welland 2nds 6-1 away on Sunday to set up the winner-takes-all clash.

After soaking up early pressure, Jess Brain hit a first-half hat-trick for the Ladies against the higher-ranked Westfields, as the hosts played some lovely football.Brain notched her fourth after the break as the floodgates opened, as Ellen Phillips, Grace Semple on debut, Danie Ward, Romana Cocus, Sadie Allen with a brace and Nicola Wall also hit the target.

The ever improving Ladies, sponsored by Kings Accountancy Ltd, showed tremendous teamwork throughout and the football played on a difficult pitch was delightful at times. On Sunday (March 23), it was the turn of Juniors Women, who were hit by illness and unavailability before kick-off, and were then shocked early on when a Welland free-kick came off the bar and was bundled in at the back post.

Ross, sponsored by 21Wellbeing, didn’t let the early pressure get to them though, and settled down to play some nice football on a difficult suface, especially with Hollie Mace and Macy Walker linking up with Holly Thomas and they soon found themselves level when Abbie Fuszard played a lovely pass out of defence to Lauren Creed who set Bea Zuka through to finish low and hard for 1-1.

Mace then fire homed from 20 yards from a corner for 2-1 before Zuka added a third before the break, latching on to a Thomas cross and firing home. After the restart, Mace whipped a ball in for Creed to make it 4-1 with a neat finish at the back post. Substitute Lily Irving on debut then cut inside and hit a blistering 25-yard left foot shot into the far corner for 5-1 to cap a great day for her.

And Ross weren't finished, as Zuka cut the ball inside to Creed to strike home for 6-1 - a fantastic achievement for both teams and for the club.
