Ross Juniors Sunday side won an epic HFA game away at Bell 4-1 on penalties after the game finished 5-5 after extra time. The result turned from what would have been an embaressing disaster to yet more evidence of the team's reserve. The morning started in disastrous fashion with a chronic shortage of players. This was due to injuries, illness and some not turning up.
In the end Dan Morris and Andrew Densley, making his debut, were drafted in. To make up the numbers on arrival, as players were still absent, was the manager Jim Loftus. If the veteran looked exhausted after 10 minutes you can only imagine what he was like after 120 minutes.
The game started well for Juniors as they took the lead with a well worked goal after six minutes as Andy Francis set up Damon Beaumont and he flicked the ball over the keeper from nine yards. The striker was bundled over six minutes later in the penalty box. Unfortunately the spot kick hit the post and was cleared. Full back Carl Roberts had a rasping shot that struck the cross bar.
