Ross based Asylum Functional Training ladies running Team were decisive first place victors at Sunday's gruelling Mud Runner Oblivion event, held at Eastnor Castle.

Heather Walker, Robyn Perkins, Kathy Fletcher and Holly Campbell showed grim determination and perseverance in completing the course under a hot sun in good healthy times. Heather came second, Robyn sixth, Kathy ninth and Holly twentieth in the field. Team member Nicky Hall came top in her ladies category too.

Asylum Functional Training is a group of about 20 males/females who meet for extreme circuits each week on a Wednesday at John Kyrle, with no allowances made for age or gender. Most of the group follow other disciplines and challenges such as mountain biking, rowing, road biking, climbing and power lifting as well as running. The ladies have trained really hard for the mud run with runs in the Malverns and Black Mountains. They also meet for a regular Monday and Saturday run too.

Sue Lusted, an Asylum Functional Training member, said: "I joined a year and a half ago following a long illness and was part of a small team who completed the 3 Peaks Challenge this time last year in 19 hours 55 mins. The group are really welcoming and come from all walks of life."

Asylum would like to congratulate the ladies on their sterling performance.
