LOCAL triathletes, Penny Harris and Martin, took part in the inaugural Lanzarote Ironman 70.3 on November 10th.

The race is a Half Ironman and consisted of a 1.9k swim in a sea lagoon, a 91km bike ride that included a non-stop 10km climb up a mountain and was accompanied by a very strong wind, and finished with a half marathon in a hot windy sun. "It was lovely to bump into Martin and his wife on the morning of the race," said Penny. "I was very nervous as it was my first attempt at the distance. As you can see from the smiles we both were successful. I can't wait to go back for more."
