ROSS Juniors Sunday team lost to Bromyard 2-1, on Sunday, ending their unbeaten run in the league of 29 games. The morning did not start well with some players not turning up. When the team finally arrived in Bromyard with minutes to spare they had just 12 players, of which two were carrying injuries. It was no surprise then that Ross were slow out of the blocks and were pinned back. Bromyard took the lead in the 9th minute with a well worked goal. Minutes later the home team almost doubled their lead when they hit the post.
Ross started to come into the game as they pressed the home defence. Ted Loftus and Adam Beaumont were working hard and midfielder Dan Morgan went close with a 20 yard effort that was inches wide of the post. Two minutes later Damon Beaumont thundered the ball from 30 yards only to see the Bromyard keeper make a terrific save onto the cross bar.
After 33 minutes Rob McAfee thought he had scored from a corner but his header was tipped onto the cross bar and from the rebound Matt Davies struck the ball well but it was cleared off the line.
Ben Gardner did well to keep his team in the game with a goal line clearance in the 39th minute. Then keeper Alex Goode made a couple of excellent saves. One, in particular, looked a certain goal but somehow he palmed the ball away just as the striker was about to score.
