LOCAL man Martin Morris, who has been running a business on the soon to be redeveloped Broadmeadow site in Ross for over 20 years, finished 3rd in the 2012 MG Midget and Sprite Championship at Brands Hatch on May 4th.

Martin Morris started his 2013 Campaign over the Bank Holiday weekend at Brands Hatch. Having missed the first round at Donington Park due to work commitments, it was important to gain good results from the weekend of races.

Qualifying 3rd on the Saturday morning in dull but dry conditions the afternoon race was set for some fast close racing. However, on lap 3 whilst lying 2nd he suffered gearbox failure and had to retire. All set to put the car on the trailer and come home he was persuaded by his fellow drivers to try and carry out repairs at the circuit. The engine and gearbox were both swiftly removed and the failed selector pin replaced. By midday on the Sunday the car was ready to enter the afternoon race. It lived up to all expectations with places changing throughout the 20 minute race. Paul Sibley led from the start with Reeve, Morris and Dunkerley all within 10ths of a second. On lap 10 Reeve left a gap at Druids and Morris went down the inside to take 2nd place. It was fast and exciting racing right to the chequered flag with Morris taking 2nd just seconds behind Sibley.

The next race is being held at Mallory Park on May 27th and is being shown live by Motors TV on the sports channel of Sky Television.
