Ross Tennis Centre Winter league teams started the season with close matches. The Men's 'A' team pushed Stourbridge 'A' all the way. Partnering for the first time, Neil Meek and Chris Friend took an early break in the deciding set but were unable to close out, losing 3-6 6-2 4-6. In the second match, Neil and Chris lost the first set but rallied to take the second 6-0. However, Stourbridge won the third set 6-4. Another new pairing, Adam Barnard and Ed Edwards had a close match against the second pair but the young Stourbridge players held their nerve to record a 7-5 7-6 win. A more one sided match saw the opposition's first pair beat Adam and Ed 6-0 6-2.

The Men's 'B' team entertained Ledbury 'A' team in an extremely competitive match. Youngsters Conor Kearns and Christian Porter played as first pair for Ross and started well against an experienced couple, losing the first set 6-4. This loss affected the confidence of the young pair and the second set was lost 6-1.

Steve Hicks and Richard Jones proved too strong for their opponents and won the match 6-3 7-6. Christian and Conor responded in the best way possible with a straight set victory 6-3 7-6 which meant the overall match result was down to Richard and Steve. Unfortunately, they lost a very tight match 7-6 7-5, meaning the match was tied at two rubbers all, four sets all but Ledbury taking the extra winning point by 42 games to 41.

The Ladies 'B' team opened their winter season with a home match against Manor Park 'D' in a close match. Both home team pairs, Gaynor Raine and Lynn O'Driscoll, and Jane Chandler and Sarah Drake, won one and lost one. Gaynor and Lynn's scores were, 6-3 6-1, 2-6 2-6 and Jane and Sarah's were 6-1 6-4 and 1-6 4-6. As with the Men's 'B' team, this meant that the rubbers were level at 2-2, as were the sets at 4-4 and incredibly so were the games score, 33-33, which meant a complete and utter draw, never known before in the history of the Tennis Centre!
