The MonRoss Trailblazers took part in the Rotary Forest of Dean Half Marathon on Sunday, March 20th. The 13.1 mile route took the runners from the Speech House and around the gravel undulating cycle tracks of the Forest. The race is ideal preparation for the London Marathon, so it always gets a good following of runners. And this time was no different, attracting a group of nearly 1500 athletes.

Sam Harness came first in the MonRoss group in 1 hour 28 minutes; in 54th place. Gavin Jones came in soon after with a 1 hour 33 minutes. Mark Scrivens followed with a time of 1 hour 44 minutes, which was a fantastic achievement on his debut half-marathon. Vanessa Ball also did well with a time of 1 hour 47 minutes, which was a personal best performance.

MonRoss-Trailblazers meet on Wednesday evenings alternating between Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye, and sessions are suitable for all abilities. The next training session will be 6pm Wednesday, March 23rd at John Kyrle High School front gates.
