Members of the Ross & District Motorsports Club have been celebrating their 80th anniversary.

The club started with a meeting at the Horse and Jockey pub, in New Street, Ross, on January 23rd 1933, and the members returned to the pub 80 years to the day. to toast the original group.

Some members brought along the first minute book and an old hedgehog badge – the symbol of Ross, of course.

The Mayor of Ross David Ravenscroft was on hand to keep an eye on these tearaways but not before they got up to some serious plotting over the sandwiches!

The Ross & District Motor Sports Club has been part of the Ross-on-Wye and wider community for over 60 years, putting on a wide variety of motor sport events.

Although the group stopped for the Second World War, they reformed in 1950 and have been running continiously ever since to provide a meeting place for people who are interested in motor sport in Ross.

The club meets every Thursday at their own premises in Kyrle Street from 8pm onwards. On the first Thursday in each month is their formal General Members Meeting and other evenings include informal gatherings for a noggin and natter or a specific social event.

They are affiliated to several other clubs including the Association of West Midlands Motor Clubs, the Welsh Association of Motor Clubs, the Association of South Western Motor Clubs and The Association of Classic Trials Clubs, and are a recognised Motor club by the Motor Sports Association.
