A LARGE crowd of motorsport fans flocked to Pencombe near Bromyard for Ledbury Motor Cycle Club’s first motorcycle grass track event of 2026.
The action served up at Sparrington Farm was fast, furious and very entertaining with a total of 57 races completed.
The main event at the ‘Ledbury Leader’ was the 1,000cc Right-Hand sidecars who were contesting the Tony Brown Challenge Cup and racing for some big prize money on offer.
Taking the win was multi-British Champion Mark Cossar with passenger Carl Blyth, as holders Terry Saunters/Liam Brown took second and Paul Whitelam/Richard Webb placed third.
There was also a sidecar class for 500cc-powered machines with European Championship silver medalists Mitch Godden/Paul Smith proving victorious in that one.
In the five solo classes programmed, James Shanes (500cc), Tim Curnock (350cc), Thomas Vining (250cc) and Tony Atkin (Classic) all took home the laurels by recording perfect unbeaten performances.
In the one remaining class for the small GT140s, it produced some of the closest racing of the day and a super final in which the three front riders regularly swapped the lead.
Eventually first past the chequered flag was Ian Clark ahead of Wayne Broadhurst and Mark Scopes.
