Ross schoolgirl, Rebecca Brown, who is a member of a family of off-road motorcycling fans, has picked up a special award as most improved rider.

Rebecca Brown attends Brampton Abbotts Primary School and thanks to her dad’s passion for Trials biking has been a keen motobike triallist for about two years. Her grandfather, who is now in his 70s, rides them too, as well as Becky’s uncle and two cousins.

She is a member of the Auto Cycle Union (ACU) Western Centre Youth Squad, which is a motorcycle trials team of riders aged from eight to 18 years of age.

Rebecca is now a member of ‘Youth C,’ which is the next age bracket for 9 - 12 year olds.

Following the final training day of the year, the Western Centre Youth Squad held their awards presentation on Saturday, December 9th. This year Becky was presented with a certificate and a £10 voucher, for being the ‘Most Improved Rider’.

As well as attending the training days run by the Western Centre, she has competed throughout the year in various events in Shropshire, Powys, Monmouthshire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire, run by various local clubs.

Becky started the year on her OSET 20 (Oliver Stone Electric Trials bike) but improved to a level where she was able to move up to a petrol Trials bike, a GasGas 70, in November (with a kickstart, clutch and gears).

Becky is looking forward to competing in 2018.

Becky would like to say a big thank you to her sponsors - her dad for supplying her bikes and chauffeuring her to events, and Lucas Motorcycles for their help with bike preparation and maintenance.
