Ross-on-Wye Sea Angling Club continued their hunt for jaws last weekend in Looe while aboard Swallow 2 with Skipper Murry Collings at the Helm.

Over 28 sharks were caught during the three day trip. The sharks are caught, chipped and measured and then released so that their movements can be tracked. Some sharks caught over the past years have travelled as far as South Africa.

The biggest fish competition is always a challenge, and all aboard wanted to win.

The results are as follows: Day 1: Blue Shark weighing in at 87lb caught by Chris Criddle. Day 2: Blue shark weighing in at 65lb also caught by Chris Criddle. Day 3: Blue shark weighing in at 80lb, caught by club secretary Mark Dobbs.

Mark also caught a baby Porbeagle, weighing 25lb.

The Ross On Wye Sea Angling club always welcome new members and any one wishing to join or try a trip should call Mark on 01989 566547. Meetings are held every fortnight and dates can be found on the Facebook page, which is Ross On Wye Sea Angling Club.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now
