Double Olympic gold medallist, Andy Triggs-Hodge was in Ross this weekend for the annual Ross-on-Wye Regatta. As well as being a double Olympic champion, he is also a quadruple world champion rower, in the coxless fours and the eight.
Andy was in Ross as a spectator and was enjoying the Regatta with his son, Sebastian. He told the Ross Gazette: “It’s been brilliant; to be honest it’s been a while since I’ve been to many river regattas like this but from what I remember they are never as big, grand or ambitious as Ross.
“It’s great to come down and see a thriving river regatta scene, this is where the heart of British rowing is and it’s awesome to see so much activity and so much going on.”
Andy started rowing at University and regattas such as the one at Ross were his playground growing up.
He said: “The Gloucester, Bristol and Ross regattas were where I cut my teeth as a novice adult, so yeah a lot a familiarity steering round bends and stuff.
He added: “It’s actually what I miss about rowing, when I go on training camps I love the aspect of corners and getting it just right, it’s a different dynamic to rowing and I miss it. I was saying to Ian earlier.”
