A great trip was had by all the members of the Ross-on-Wye Sea Angling Club when they travelled to Weymouth to go out wrecking, aboard Wild Frontier with Skipper, Clem Carter.
Wreck angling is a specialist sport and not suitable for novices as it is physically demanding. It involves fishing above a ship wreck as fish are more prolific in these areas.
The group from Ross had their work cut out as the cod and pollock just kept on coming. The winner of heaviest fish of the day was Kevin Gardiner catching two pollock, one of 16lb and the other, 17lb.
The next trip is to Plymouth at the end of the month. Any one wishing to join this fishing club is welcome to attend the meetings, which are held fortnightly in The Mail Rooms, Ross. Their next meeting is on Wednesday, October 7th or call the Club Secretary Mark Dobbs for more information on 01989 566547.
