In spite of the recent weather there was finally less than a 50% chance of rain as Ross Ladies A Team travelled to Ombersley for their third match of the season on June 25th.

Brenda Saunders and Jane Pepperell playing as first couple took on their first couple, taking a short while to acclimatise to the courts before winning 6:4, 6:1. Meanwhile Heather Peachey and Val Davis, playing third couple took on the oppositions second couple winning 6:3, 6:1.

Both couples then had a considerable wait as Gaynor Raine and Sarah Drake, playing as second couple, battled it out against the opponents third couple.

Having lost the first set 4:6, they showed shades of Graf resilience by going on to win the next two sets 6:4 and 6:4. With the light going grey, floodlights went on as Brenda and Jane took on their second couple, winning 6:0, 6:2, whilst Heather and Val fought valiantly but lost to the third couple 1:6, 6:7.

Once again Gaynor and Sarah went to three sets, but this time, they were unable to find the form required for a win with the final score being 4:6, 6:3, 4:6.

Well done Ross Ladies A, a 4:2 win, looking good for the season!
