Goals from unlikely sources, Aidan Cook and David Taylor, secured an excellent comeback victory against Fownhope on Saturday.
Both sides should have been keen to get back to winning ways. Ross suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at Westfields on Wednesday, while Fownhope would be looking to move on from their 3-0 defeat at Leominster Town last week.
Early sluggishness has started to become an unwanted feature of Ross' play and this recurrence saw Fownhope monopolise possession in the early stages of the match. Fownhope's Ben Price and James Fussell pressed high up the pitch early on to some reward. Ross regularly gave the ball away in dangerous positions but Fownhope couldn't fashion any real chances. After ten minutes Ross were unfortunate not to take the lead with their first attack when Dewi Stuart headed the ball into the net only to be flagged offside.
Fownhope deservedly took the lead after 15 minutes. A Ben Price a free kick on the edge of the box was floated up and over the wall into the net. Ross reacted well to going a goal down. Andrew Densley and Jon Tookey finally got some service into Ross' front pair, Dewi Stuart and Jimmy Moreton. Moreton went close to finding the equaliser on a couple of occasions but couldn't find the net.
