In preparation for Sunday's North Midlands Cup final, Ledbury offered a competitive game for Ross prior to their final at Dudley on the 12th. The weather was kind and both teams were committed in all aspects of play. It was Ross however, who were more direct and with a sprinkling of individual brilliance ran out comfortable 41-14 victors in the sunshine
With squad places in the final up for grabs, it was no surprise that Ross were quicker in thought and deed. Ledbury were committed and physical but were unable to create the amount of chances to keep up with Ross on the scoreboard and as a result Ross were able to relax and play some great rugby. Ledbury scored two tries themselves either side of halftime, but a Gavin Oates' hat-trick, and further tries by Jordan, Chay, Craig Smith and Ollie Floyd ensured the result was never in doubt.
The performance and result give the Ross coaches plenty to think about this week as they look to select their 22 man squad for the trip to Dudley on Sunday. A 52 seater coach will be leaving the Mighty Eight at 10-15am, if you want to reserve a place on the bus please call down to the Drop Inn this week and pay your £5 to ensure you are booked on. For those looking to travel independently, kick off time is 1pm at Dudley Kingswingford RFC. Supporters will be appreciated.
Officials at the club would like to thanks sponsors, players and supporters for another great season and look forward to welcoming you back next season. Please check on the website http://www.rossrugby.co.uk">www.rossrugby.co.uk for training dates and forthcoming events.
