IN the same week that English and Australian cricket fans marvelled at the maturity and class shown by 19 year old Ashton Agar, Ross Cricket Club found yet another outstanding young player of their own to be proud of.
Despite the rivalry between the teams, and the fans, competing for the Ashes, Ashton Agar received applause from all corners last week after the teenage spin bowler, on his debut for Australia, came in to bat at number 11 and scored a brilliant 98 to keep Australia in the first test, at Trent Bridge.
On Saturday, July 13th, Ross CC Second XI entertained Malvern CC at The Park, and by the time Calum McIntosh came in to bat, at number eight, things were as bleak for Ross as they were when Agar came in for Australia. Like Agar, McIntosh's efforts could not prevent his side from losing, however, like Agar, McIntosh put on a responsible, controlled display which could only draw admiraton.
