Ross CC First XI travelled to Alveley on Saturday for their latest Worcester League clash in swelteringly hot temperatures. A bone white wicket and dry outfield greeted both sides. Ross lost the toss and were duly inserted into bat.
Openers J. Evans and J. Tiffen made the most of the perfect conditions by carefully negotiating the new ball and dispatching loose bowling to the boundary, on what was the quickest outfield of the season. Both batsmen got full value for their shots, maintaining a healthy scoring rate. Tiffen was the first to fall with the score on 170, when he unluckily played on to a ball from Ahmed for a well played 89. Warwick departed soon after, holing out to deep mid-wicket for 18, whilst trying to continue the momentum. The departure of J. Donovan for 8 brought in H. King, who launched a monumental assault on the Alveley seam bowlers, scoring 59 not out off 23 balls.
