Ross Juniors Sunday team hammered the Herefordshire Sunday Football League's basement club, Addisons, 9-0. The game was effectively over as a contest after 30 minutes as Ross stormed to a 5-0 lead, crushing Addisons, who started the match with 10 players. The rout started after two minutes as full back Dan Morris stormed down the right and his pass was put away with aplomb by Dan Morgan.
In the tenth minute a neat cross from Eli Wooding was flicked home nonchalantly on the volley by Ted Loftus. Four minutes later Matt Davies burst through from midfield and Damon Beaumont latched onto his pass to make it 3-0. The striker got his second after 23 minutes with a clever chip from nine yards.
Terrific link play between Ted Loftus and Eli Wooding resulted in Damon Beaumont grabbing his hat trick after he followed up after the goalie spilled the ball from Wooding's shot.
A Chris Davies free kick was lashed home from 32 yards, past a flapping Addisons' goalkeeper, to make the score 6-0. Andy Francis got himself on the score sheet with a clever finish five minutes before half time. He then turned provider to Ted Loftus as he headed in his cross from the penalty spot.
On the rare occasion that the away team entered Ross' half it was expertly dealt with by the Ross defence and Ross keeper Alex Goode was a spectator with hardly a touch in the first half.
The second half saw the introduction of midfielders George Selwyn James and Lee Walker as Ross went three at the back. Addisons changed their keeper at half time and that, combined with the fact that the game was over meant Ross found it hard to keep up the same tempo in the second half. The game was more even in the second period with Ross still creating the best chances. Ross made it 9-0 in the 81st minute with terrific skill from Ted Loftus who cleverly chipped the stand in keeper from 15 yards.
This result means Ross keep pace with the reigning champions, Allstars, at the top of the Premier Division table. Both sides have won all of their league matches this season. With two of Hereford's well-established clubs, Vaga and Welsh Club, starting the season poorly, Ross must now battle through a string of tough away games to put themselves in with a chance of a third consecutive league success.
The Eagle Inn man of the match was striker Ted Loftus for some expert finishing.
