Ross Rowing Club’s junior squad are for only the second time National Champions of Great Britain in the WJ14 Quadrupal Sculls event.

In glorious conditions at Nottingham last weekend, Ross Rowing Club competed at the British Rowing Junior Championships with a good number of crews aged between 13 and 15, and came away with a coveted gold medal in the Women’s Junior 14 quad. The Ross girls held off challenges from top crews from around the country to secure a one length victory, and were joined on the podium by J14 boys from Hereford Rowing Club who won a silver medal in the boys’ event. It was a spectacular day for Herefordshire junior rowing and demonstrates the strength of the sport in the county.

The winning Ross crew was made up of Ella Bardsley-Taylor, Emily Hermon, Yasmin Howe, Niamh Gabb and Tom Gianessi (cox). Ross was also brilliantly represented by a host of other athletes, including Katie Smith, Lucy Burden, Heidi Brodholt, Ellie Lown, Ben Clatworthy, Cameron Roberts, Elic Wales, Josh Quan-Buchanan, Oliver Billington, Tom Clatworthy, Lucy Billington, Ellie Humphryes, Jessie Punn, Charlie Pope, Niamh Hickey – all of whom contributed to a memorable championships.
