Ross-on-Wye and District Motor Sports Club held its annual Spring Fling car trial at Preece Moor Farm in Longhope on Sunday, May 22nd. There were 27 entries from various clubs.

Four rounds were held during the course of the day over eight hills. It was a very successful day, unfortunately due to heavy rain in the morning four of the hills could not be run after lunch time, as it was impossible to reach them through churned up mud on the approach.

All the competitors had a successful day with Mark Hoppe in a Citreon Saxo gaining first overall. Phillip Buckle was first in class in the front wheel drive production class with ballast. Andy Wilks won the rear wheel drive sports and saloon category, and was first Ross driver. The ladies award was won by Gemma Weeks in a Hillman Imp; Steve Courts won the class in his Imp. Class five kit cars was won by Dick Glossop in his Liege S kit car. Graham Price managed to complete all the tests in his 1930s Austin 7.

The Club is very grateful to all the marshals for their time, the event couldn’t take place without them. And offered a big thank you to the landowner for the use of his land (and wonderful bacon butties and cream teas).
