The Year 7 and 9 tennis finals were played on a sunny evening on the JKHS tennis courts last week.
The Year 7 final saw Sam Vitzthum and Charlie Pope contest an entertaining three set final with Sam ending up as the year 7 champion after a lively match of varying strokes.
In the Year 9 final, two old sporting foes met again in an enthralling competition with Aekudom Abbott and Will Marshall trading some fantastic attacking and defending shots in a number of rallies.
The first set went to Will but in the second set Aekudom came out fighting and found a way to get back into the game with some superb reaction shots to deny Will and win the set. At one set all, Will raced into a 5-2 lead and it looked all over when Will was at match point. A great recovery, however, saw the set go to 5-4.
This meant the result hung on the outcome of the next game and with the advantage changing hands 14 times, Will finally sealed it to take the Year 9 trophy.
Mr Griffiths, staff, parents, relations, brothers, sisters and students all witnessed some great entertainment, and the trophies were then awarded by Mr Griffiths to each of the worthy winners.
