Ross Tae Kwon Do is a family run and family orientated club. Grant White is the main instructor and has enjoyed being an instructor there for over ten years.

Ava Hawkins is one of the youngest students, aged eight, and has been training with Ross Tae Kwon Do for over a year. She originally began training to help build her confidence.

This year, Ava completed her first grading and was awarded her first coloured belt Yellow Tag. To complete the grading, she was required to perform two patterns, demonstrate her defence and attack skills and also show her knowledge of the Korean language. She passed this grading with a well deserved B+.

She has shown dedication and commitment to Tae Kwon Do and she is very eager to learn new skills and techniques. After an extremely successful year for Ava, the instructors at Ross Tae Kwon Do decided she deserved to be awarded the Student Of The Year 2018.

She has become an asset to the club and we are excited to see how she develops her knowledge of the martial art in the New Year. Well done Ava from everyone at Ross Tae Kwon Do

Ava’s instructor, Grant, began his Tae Kwon Do journey when he was five years old with his mum, Marisa White, at a club in Ross. Grant became a Black Belt when he was only nine. His dad and four siblings started their martial arts journey not long after, and are all Black Belts. In the year 2000, they started their own club which Grant now runs with his dad, Lea White.

Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that is based on challenging negative thoughts and actions in a positive way, teaching you to be self aware.

This is done by learning how to take control of your life and training your mind in the five tenets.

The aim of their club and of the martial art is based on five tenets - courtesy, self control, indomitable spirit, perseverance, and integrity. Their mission is to help build confidence, self improvement and to get the best version of you.

Over the years they have helped lots of students gain friendships, self worth along with accomplishing a skill they can take with them through life. This is done by team building exercises, self defence skills and even competing against other clubs around the country.

Ross Tae Kwon Do is run at John Kyrle High School gymnasium every Monday and Friday 7-8pm. They currently have students from five to 70 years old.

Training for Ross Tae Kwon Do recommences on Friday, January 11th between 7pm and 8pm.
