Ross 2nds returned to league action on Saturday but came up short against a well organised Upton team that did enough to secure victory. Both sides started well looking to move the ball at every opportunity and both wingers Harry Haile and Guy Pearson looked dangerous when given the ball in space. But the visitors' defence managed keep the home side at bay.

The set piece was strong with Dave Lawrence, Matt Redman and Chris Price causing the Upton front row plenty of trouble at scrum time. Forwards Boris and Adam disrupted the visitors lineout and Ross were able to secure plenty of possession. Centres Pete Smith and Pete Jarvis ran hard and straight but the visitors defence continued to hold firm, and against the run of play two late scores from Upton saw them go in at half time 12-0 ahead.
