Ross 2nds were away to Old Cryptians 3rds in league action and were defeated by a mere converted try, losing 24-15.

Old Crypts edged the first half territory advantage, but Ross were closest to scoring when winger Joe Muldowney ran the length of the field but his final pass didn’t quite reach centre Eli Wooding, who would have only had to touch down.

The Old Crypts side towered the Ross pack and from a line out they drove over to score mid-way through the first half. They scored again on 35 minutes, before Ross scored in the corner from Tom Muldowney diving over. Old Crypts settled quickest after the interval and scored soon after the kick off.

Ross finally found their footing on a tough going pitch and a simple handling passage of play saw centre PJ Muldowney scoring. Next, from a similar move, the ball went wide through the hands and full back Ryan Keating scored.

It was a very competitive match and Old Crypts had to work hard to earn their points. PJ, TC Leach and second row Connor Challenger all had a great game, but it was Ross’ flanker Ian Davies who earned man of the match with his tremendous low tackling. This week, Ross 2nds have a week off.
