It has been “the perfect league season” for Ross 1sts, with 22 league games and 22 wins. Ross completed their league campaign last Saturday with a 71-0 victory against Cotham Park.

For the statiticians amongst you, 1194 points scored at an average of just under 55 points per game, conceding only 100 all season, 195 tries scored at an average of just under 9 per game.

Ross have been dominant throughout the campaign and have been deserved league champions.

Cotham Park, to their credit, did their best to ruin the party atmosphere, however with the Ross defence being as mean as ever, they could not find a way over the try line.

Ross however, as all season looked threatening every time they moved the ball and throughout the encounter the tries came at regular intervals. By the end of the game Ross had run in 11 tries with Thai Hayward converting 8, seeing them comfortable winners 71-0.

The Maggie Pearce ‘Man of the Match’ was Marcus Barnard for 5 great tries taking his season tally to 40.

Jerry Green, of Wadworth 6X, league sponsors of Gloucester 2 and Nigel Gillingham of the GRFU made a special effort to attend and support the players, along with a huge crowd of supporters from the local community, family and friends.

Whilst the league campaign is over Ross are still in both the Forest of Dean combination cup competition and the final of the North Midlands cup which is on Sunday, May 13th.
