Ross 2nds were below par last Saturday, losing 19-24 to Old Cryptians 3rds.
Old Crypts started the better early doors, camped in the Ross half, but centre Craig Smith intercepted a pass and his electric pass carried him away to score under the post for captain Craig Powell to convert.
Old Crypts responded with a try which they also converted, leaving it all square at half time with all to play for.
Ross were guilty of too many errors, in particular being penalised for going off their feet at rucks or having hands on the ball, which lead to Cryptians taking full advantage, with a penalty and then a try from five yards out.
They added to their tally after 60 minutes, before Smith got his second try for Ross, which Powell narrowly missed with the extras.
Immediately from the re-start and with Ross back in the game, Old Crypts collected the kick off and poor tackling allowed them to score.
Ross responded late on with another solo Smith try, running the touch line and breaking two tackles to score. Powell converted but the clock had all but run out for Ross to get any more than a losing bonus point.
The Ross man of the match was Craig Smith for his hat-trick of tries. This week Ross 2nds are away to Dowty in the league.
