ROSS RFC 2nds were comprehensive winners at home to Hardwick & Quedeley, scoring six tries to win 38-7. Newcomer Matty Robertson playing at loose head was first to score, bumping off two tackles in under the posts.
Centre Paul Wooding converted. The Ross pack were dominant and No 8 Dan Gould picked up from the back of the scum to go over. Wooding again converted. Robertson showed his strength, running from 20 yards out before offloading to second row Joe Muldowney, to score in the corner.
Joe’s brother PJ, was not to be out done, and the scrum half ran the touch line to score. Wooding scored too, when he cut back in from the wing to go over the white wash. He converted his own try.
The second half was a little more even, and Quedgely got their try from sheer perseverance. With the last play of the match, centre Chay Brine broke through to time his pass to full-back Ryan Keating who went over. PJ Muldowney then converted.
It was a vast improvement from the Ross side compared to recent weeks. The Drop Inn man of the match was Matty Robertson.
