Ross secured another league win recently which takes their season tally to six wins with just the one loss, cementing their place in the top three.

The scoreline may indicate a straight forward win for Ross but this wasn’t the case. It was the visitors who dominated the first half, keeping hold of the ball going through phase after phase. If it wasn’t for a strong defensive performance, the Old Es would have had more than the one try and conversion as the first half entered the last ten minutes.

To add insult to injury on their first visit into the Old E’s 22, Gavin Oates crashed over from a dominant scrum five yards out Thai Hayward converted and Ross went in at the break level at 7 all.

Ross were a different team in the second half they cut out the errors and kept hold of the ball, and within five minutes they took the lead, from deep in their half Thai chipped the ball forward into space, as it bounced into their 22 the Old E’s winger pounced on the ball. He was unable to secure possession and the ball bounced up kindly for Ross centre Matt King to score, putting Ross 12-7 ahead

Within minutes, Ross went further ahead from another dominant scrum Number eight, Gavin Oates, broke from the back and crashed through two tackles to score. Thai converted and Ross were 19-7 ahead.

The visitors worked hard to find a way back into the game and almost scored but for a crucial try saving tackle from fullback, Chay Brine.

Ross added another two scores in the last quarter. Gavin Oates secured a hat trick and captain, Casey Morgan, got on the score sheet. At the final whistle, Ross had secured what looked like a comfortable bonus point win but had been made to work hard for those five points. The W James Repair and Welding man of the match was Gavin Oates for his three tries.
