A depleted Ross 2nds travelled to Tewkesbury 2nds and put in a performance to be proud of despite ending in a 51-34 loss. Ross were in excellent form in the first half running in 4 tries to Tewkesbury’s 2. Wes Parker was unstoppable in scoring Ross’ first points running in from 35 metres despite three players trying to drag him down. Joe Muldowney converted. No 8 Dan Gould was next to score finding a gap in the Tewkesbury defence. Ryan Keating converted. Tewkesbury hit back with a converted try just after Ross had thought they’d scored again when winger Guy Pearson went over but he was adjudged to have put a foot on the sideline. A succession of phases led to the Ross backs getting the ball wide for Guy to score. Tewkesbury again scored under the posts and then again out wide, but Dan Gould put Ross’ noses back in front with an unconverted try.

In the 2nd half Tewkesbury scored but Ross again put themselves ahead when full-back Ryan Keating chased a long punt forward and when the ball went out of play, he had the presence of mind to intercept an attempted quick throw in and went on to score. Tewkesbury never gave up and on 65 minutes put the scores level at 34-34. They were then able to kick on the final quarter to score a couple more times as the Ross side were almost dead on their feet after an enthralling battle. Youngster Skylar Lilly was outstanding on the flank, as was scrum-half Sam Griffiths. The Drop Inn man of the match went to Wes Parker with his strong running with ball in hand and superb tackling.
