A young rugby player who started his playing career while at school in Ross-on-Wye recently captained Hartpury University First Team in the BUCS Super Rugby Final at Twickenham against Leeds Beckett University.

Will Biggs scored the opening try for Hartpury on Wednesday, April 10th, in a hard fought match with a final score of 45-27 to Hartpury. He plays in the front row at the position of Hooker (number 2).

Hartpury University proved too strong for Leeds Beckett University as they secured their third consecutive BUCS Super Rugby Championship title with a first half dream performance by Hartpury.

The team from Leeds fought back in the second half but were unable to find a way past the disciplined Hartpury defence.

Will went to school at Ashfield Park Primary School and John Kyrle High School, where he lead the school rugby team and captained them on a school tour to Canada.

He played his junior rugby at Drybrook, ending up playing for the Colts and then progressing to adult rugby with his brother, Tom, at Worcester Wanderers.

Will is leaving Hartpury at the end of this term, where he has been studying his degree in Sports Business, and he will be concentrating on running his own business, MatchDayInfo, a Sports based App.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
