Ross Rugby Club was the bustling location for an exciting afternoon of sport and camaraderie last Thursday (February 16). The annual Ross Cluster Primary Schools event saw enthusiastic pupils from Years 5 and 6 take to the field for a thrilling Tag Rugby Festival.

The event was kindly hosted by the Ross Rugby Club, and the games were officiated by the John Kyrle High School’s Year 10 sports leaders. Holly Stringer, Holly Smith, Cerys Williams, Lily McClean, and Sofija Agintaite all took up the mantle of making the calls and keeping everything in check.

Teams from Whitchurch, Bridstow, Lea, Walford, Brampton Abbotts, and Goodrich, all came out in force. The competition was fierce, but the atmosphere was electric, with everyone enjoying the festivities and the chance to showcase their sporting prowess.

The primary teachers and parents who attended with their pupils commended the sports leaders for their enthusiasm, attitude, and leadership skills. The afternoon was not only an opportunity for the pupils to show off their rugby skills, but also a chance for the older students to exhibit their leadership abilities.

The event was a resounding success, with the young pupils and sports leaders alike taking away valuable lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership.
