With promotion settled this season Ross were chasing third place in the league with three games remaining, and last Saturday they took on Kingswood who hold third place.

On paper it looked likely to be a tight nervy affair, however with the sun on their backs Ross were far too dynamic; running in eight unanswered tries and winning comfortably 56-3.

Ross were dominant in the first quarter, the scrum, and the lineout worked perfectly, and with plenty of ball, Ross were able to play their high tempo game. It wasn’t long before they were on the scoreboard, with a well taken Dan Field score.

Thai Hayward’s conversion just missed on the left but Ross were 5-0 ahead. Within minutes Casey Morgan added another, this time Thai added the two. With two further penalties by Thai, Ross took a 18-0 lead as they entered the second quarter.

Kingswood came to life in the second quarter, however their hard work only saw them convert a late first half penalty, and at half time Ross led 18-3.

Ross did not take their foot off the gas in the second half, in fact they were even more dominant as the half progressed. Dan Field added another try and Captain Casey Morgan added another two to secure his hat-trick.

In the last quarter there were further scores for Billy Hambling, Gavin Oates and Craig Powell. Kingswood had no answer and the final whistle was a relief for them seeing Ross 56-3 winners.

The Ross man of the match was Dan Field, who was creative in attack throughout the game.

This Saturday, April 9th, both Ross 1sts and 2nds are at home, at Greytree, from 2.30pm in Combination Cup action. The 1sts take on Newent and the 2nds take on Cinderford.
