Ross completed their league campaign with another convincing win on the road with a six try win over Broad Plain Bristol.
However, for the second season in a row, promotion alluded them as they finished fourth, a single point off second place. Normally 89 points would have guaranteed promotion, but the top four teams in the division were so far ahead of the rest of the league that Ross fell just short.
Disappointing maybe, but 18 wins from a possible 22 league games is by any margin a very good campaign, and with a semi final of the Forest of Dean cup, plus the final of the North Midlands cup to come, the season is far from over.
Ross were too strong for their opponents last Saturday with winger Craig Smith getting a hat trick of tries before the half hour mark, and, at the break, Ross were 19-5 ahead.
There were further scores from Gavin Oates and Josh Element and a big dash for the line by prop Jonny Baynham saw Ross comfortable winners 38-5.
Next Saturday Ross travel to Drybrook for the Forest of Dean cup semi final, a 3pm kick off.
