Ross 1sts maintained their nine point lead at the top of the table with a comfortable, if not scrappy, win over Tewkesbury last Saturday. The final score was Ross 48 - 3 Tewkesbury.

Ross did take an early lead with a Craig Smith try, but Tewkesbury hit back with a penalty, and at the end of the first quarter Ross were only 7-3 ahead.

The visitors were happy to play loose and ball in hand, and they did cause Ross some problems out wide. However, their defence held firm, and as the game opened up, it was Ross who had the skill and quality to cross the whitewash.

They accrued tries at regular intervals as they pulled away from the visitors as the game progressed.

By half time Ross were 24-3 clear with further scores from Dan Field, Marcus Barnard and Gavin Oates.

The second half was much of the same as Tewkesbury looked to move the ball wide to find a way back into the game. However Ross pounced on every mistake and loose ball and they added another four tries through Thai Hayward, AJ, Marcus Barnard and Dan Field. Matt King added four conversions and Ross ran out 48-3 victors.

The Kings Arms Man of the match was Chris Price who had a strong game with ball in hand, busting holes regularly in the Tewkesbury defence and getting Ross on the front foot.

On Saturday, March 17th Ross are at home to Minchinhampton, a 2.30pm kick off at Greytree.
