A depleted Ross 2nds side travelled away to Longlevens 3rds in their first league match of the season but were beaten by an experienced and big side.

Within minutes of kick off, Ross lost a key player with James Maisey having to go off with a dislocated shoulder and Longlevens took full advantage, running in two quick tries, both of which were converted. Ross rallied on and newcomer, winger Timo Condie outpaced his opposite number to score.

Longlevens came back at Ross, but the defence of Pete Jarvis and Ryan Keating in midfield held firm and when the opportunity arose, Pete gathered the ball and run in under the sticks for Ian Phillips to convert, putting Ross right back in the game.

The second half however, saw Ross lose number 8 Dan Gould with a knee injury and with no replacements, Longlevens made use of the numerical advantage, scoring twice under the posts.

Entering the last quarter, Ross’ legs started to give up, Longlevens scored again, but Ross never gave up and scored twice themselves late on through flanker Rich Johnson, converted by Ian Phillips and centre Tom Muldowney, which Guy Pearson converted.

There were noted performances from Timo Condie and Guy Pearson on the opposite wing but the Ross man of the match was prop Dave Mince.

There is no fixture this weekend for Ross 2nds, but the following week they are home to Brockworth 2nds.
