Ross-on-Wye 2nds were empathetically dumped out of the Forest Combination minor cup, losing 0-64 at home to Cinderford 4ths in the semi-final clash.
From the kick off, Ross started well with their game plan of over committing to their own ball and a tight defence when their opposition had possession of it.
However, ten minutes in, Cinderford worked the ball wide to score and the rot started to set in. Gaps appeared in the Ross midfield along with many a missed tackle and Cinderford started to score tries for fun.
The second half was a vast improvement for Ross, both in attack and defence. Winger Tom Muldowney made a great break but his last ditch pass to supporting Josh Morgan was adjudged to have been forward.
Ross’ number 8, Dave Long also made some good breaks from the back of the scrum, but the young and well drilled Cinderford side put the knife into Ross with a couple of late tries.
The Drop Inn man of the match was second row, Joe Muldowney. This week Ross 2nds play at home to Hardwick and Quedgeley in the league.
