Ross-on-Wye RFC 2nds entertained Bromyard 2nds and were worthy winners 42-21 in their recent friendly fixture.
Ross were dominant in the first half, playing some excellent rugby and scored tries from a Craig Smith hat-trick and a try from full-back Ryan Keating. Scrum half Craig Powell converted all the extras.
The second half was much quieter with substitutions interrupting the passage of play but Smith grabbed a fourth try for himself.
Newcomer Alex Bridges linked with Powell to score a debut try, Captain Powell and centre PJ Muldowney converted. Stand in fly half Joe Muldowney linked well with the centre pairing of PJ and Baz Parker, but Smith stood out with his pace and was awarded The Drop Inn man of the match.
It was a great performance from Ross with the whole squad playing a part, but the key to their success was the way the players were able to spot weaknesses and know what they needed to do to score. This week Ross 2nds have a tough home fixture against neighbours Drybrook 3rds in the league.
