Keen to attract even more women to the game, England Rugby have launched their new women and girls’ programme Pitch up and Play.

As a part of this scheme, Ross RFC are building up their under 13s girls side, and Patrick Hill, the community rugby coach from the Rugby Football Union has been providing some training.

Patrick told the Ross Gazette that he had been asked by schools in the area to go in and deliver some girls’ rugby sessions, and John Kyrle High School was one of these schools. Patrick wanted to include rugby clubs in the scheme, so girls who are interested in rugby can play outside of school.

Any girls who are interested in joining the team should get in touch with Ross RFC. Visit the website, for more details.
