Ross-on-Wye Ladies Rugby team turned up for a tournament at Pershore to find the pitches waterlogged. Despite the difficult conditions they played well and were runners up.

Ross 1 - Luctonians 0

Playing on a completely waterlogged pitch was always going to be tough, a scoreless first half saw the girls 0-0 at half time with energy levels dropping fast. The second half was also very tight but following some great attacking play down the centre, the ball was moved quickly through hands to the wing where Nicola Wall scored a lovely try in the corner with a great ball supplied by Amy Yates.

Ross 2 - Bredon A 1

Playing on the drier pitch Ross were able to play running rugby. Great pressure through the centre saw Kim Parker’s quick thinking to dash through a break in the defence to score a good individual try. After an attacking move broke down, the Bredon attack managed to break the defensive line for a runaway try to set a up a tense second half. The second half saw a fabulous try straight from the training ground, with a fantastic truck and trailer move followed by a flood move by Aidie Batt and Karen Clayton putting Helen Taylor-Davies in for a brilliant team try.

Ross 0 - Pershore 2

A disappointing game back on the waterlogged pitch which saw a first half 0-0 close encounter. The second half saw a contentious try scored by Pershore but was allowed to stand, followed by a second try scored due to Ross having a player down through injury. A disappointing score line which did not reflect the closeness of the game.

Ross 2 - Bredon B

After a very close first half, Ross powered away in the second half with some great running rugby moves and some great attacking awareness to see both Helen and Nicola being put into gaps in the defence by great work in the centre taking the score to an unassailable two nil lead which was defended well until the final whistle.

Ross 4 - Berry Hill 0

The last game of the tournament started with a great move by Alex Harrington and Claire Clarkson and some great hands down the line for Nic to score in the corner. The second try was again scored by Nicola after being put into space with a long pass from Helen. The second half saw both Kim and Helen make excellent runs after being put into space by Mel Germaney and Michelle Kendall-Jeffries respectively.

A great day out which was enjoyed by all with the runners up trophy to add to the collection. The woman of the tournament nominated by Ross was Kim Parker.

The Forest Gump award went to Ross captain Nicola Wall for overrunning the try line and then dead ball line by a country mile.
