Ross consolidated their position at the top of the table with league win number 18, from 18 games, last Saturday with a convincing 14 try, 86-0 victory, against Minchinhampton.

Ross were on the scoreboard within five minutes with a Dan Field try, and the result was never in doubt from that point. Ross dominated possession and territory, and although the bitingly cold and wet conditions made handling the ball difficult, Ross were not daunted and looked to move the ball at every opportunity.

The conditions contributed to a number of errors, but there was also a number of great tries, proceeded by some great handling by forwards and backs alike. The visitors tried hard to stem the tide, but Ross had too much quality across the park and the tries came at regular intervals, as the scoreboard kept ticking over.

There were hat tricks for Thai Hayward and Alex Davies, with Thai adding eight conversions to his three tries.

The forwards were not to be outdone with Gavin Oates, Chris Price, Josh Element and prop, Jonnie Baynham (rumoured to have run in a 70 metre score, this was subsequently re measured at seven metres) getting a try apiece, before winger PJ Muldowney, fullback Marcus Barnard and scrum half Ben Element also got in on the act adding a try apiece.

This Saturday Ross are away to Smiths, who sit second in the table, plus Ross 2nds, who also top their league, are playing Smiths 2nds. Both are 2.30pm kick offs. The club would like to say a big thank you to Nick Rawlings, Louis Morgan, Keith Scrivens, Wayne Williams and Ian Phillips who worked tirelessly from 7am on Saturday to clear standing water from the pitch. Without their hard work, the game would not have gone ahead.
