Ross Rugby Club is a well-known sporting asset in Ross-on-Wye, many people in the area have turned out proudly for the club over many years. Today the Club, which is based at Greytree, has a record-breaking first team, which won the League and the Combination Cup.

There are two senior sides, a colts team and several teams for the younger age group, there is also a successful Ladies team and a very popular touch rugby group.

The Chair of the Club, Ian told the Ross Gazette that last season everything seemed to just click. “We had fit players who gelled together. There was a lot of trust shown between the players and this unity led to some very tight play which is why we had such a successful season.”

The whole club also has an excellent discipline record, they have not had a single player sent off in any game during the past season.

He said that in the second team there is mix of older, experienced players and some younger players coming through which means they have also been successful, winning almost all their games last season.

He added:?“I have a lot of praise for the coaches, these include head coach Lee Osborne. Lee played for several Forest clubs including Gloucester, Paul Haley and Nick Rawlins also have years of experience as players and coaches."

Plans for their new community room, where players and spectators will be able to get hot food and escape from the weather, are still in hand. They hope to make a start on this later in the year and will continue to push for further improvements.
