A rugby match will be held on Sunday, August 28th, with a 2pm kick-off. The Ross-on-Wye XV squad will take on The Forest XI.

The teams are invitational, and every member of each side is connected with Ollie Floyd, as they have all played with him in the past. The Forest team mainly consists of players from Drybrook, as Ollie played for that side when he was a child, before joining the Ross squad as an adult.

Last year, the two teams took part in a very competitive fixture, and the Forest team proved themselves to be tough opponents for Ross. The Foresters won the match with a score of 22 - 15.

Ollie’s dad, Nick Rawlings, was amongst the players for the Ross team that year. After the match he told the Gazette: “I haven’t played rugby for seven years, but I felt I owed it to my son to play today. Hopefully he was watching today and he was proud of what everyone has done, this town and community has done him proud.”

In 2015, the Forest team took away the Ollie Floyd memorial trophy, so the Ross side are all the more determined to attain that trophy this year. The squad would love to see lots of supporters at the match, so make sure you go down to Greytree to cheer on the boys in blue.
