Ross kept the pressure on the league leaders last Saturday with a bonus point victory against a spirited Painswick side. During the match, the Ross team ran in seven tries, of which five were converted by Aaron Ryder.

As the scoreline suggests, it was Ross who were first out of the blocks, with two early scores from Craig Smith and Josh Element. Aaron converted one and Ross were 12-0 up after ten minutes.

If Ross were hoping for an easy game, Painswick had other ideas. They brought their big runners into the match and some sloppy tackling saw the visitors open their account with a try after fifteen minutes. This brought them back into the game 12-5.

This seemed to spur Ross on and, within minutes, winger Marcus Barnard added another try wide out on the right which Aaron could not convert.

Again, Painswick hit back with a score of their own and, with the first half coming to a close, Ross were only 17-12 ahead.

A late Chris Price score however pushed Ross 24-12 clear at the break.

Ross were far tighter after the break. They controlled their lineout and scrum ball well and enabled Aaron Ryder to make sure the game was played in the visitors half.

The Ross defence was also sharper and Painswick could not get enough to go forward with the ball and it was Ross who ran in three more scores from Matt King, Huw Bellamy and Dan Field, to see Ross home as comfortable 45-12 winners.

The Baldwin Developments man of the match was Josh Walker who had a great game securing possession at the lineout and back of the scrum and putting in some crunching tackles.
