Ross-on-Wye 2nds 17 - Berry Hill 2nds 33

Ross 2nds travelled to neighbours Berry Hill on Friday night, November 11th, to play in a friendly fixture under floodlights.

Ross started well, with some excellent ball carrying from flanker, Dan Gould, and hooker, Josh Element but they just lacked the final pass or support to get them points.

Berry Hill upped the pace in the final period of the half and their speedy full back ran through from the deep to score, not once but twice. They scored again on the stroke of half time when Ross’ defending finally gave in after a period of intense Berry Hill pressure.

In the second half, Ross found their footing, and winger Ben Element was on the end of some excellent handling skills to score out wide. He scored again on 60 mins following a great Ross scrum and Element came in off his wing to go in under the uprights. Fly-half Aaron Ryder converted.

Ryder then turned provider with a cute cross field kick which centre PJ Muldowney gathered to go in at the corner.

Berry Hill sensed that Ross were well back in the game and nervously started to kick their penalties edging them further away from Ross.

The Hill Men finally crossed Ross’ try line with the last play of the match. Ross’ man of the match was centre Bas Parker.

This week Ross 2nds are away to Quedgeley at Hardwick, whilst the first team entertain Westbury in the league.
