A MEMBER of MonRoss Trailblazers Running Club has completed a demanding 65km ultra marathon while raising hundreds of pounds for charity.

Gavin Jones took on the Merthyr Mawr Rabbit Run on Saturday after months of dedicated training, tackling more than 40 miles of sand dunes, beaches and coastal trails.

He crossed the finish line in an impressive time of nine hours, 32 minutes and 40 seconds to claim 23rd place in the challenging event.

The ultra marathon was completed in support of Hope Rescue, the charity that introduced Gavin to his dog, Jen.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Gavin has already raised £960 for the charity, with sponsorship still open.

MonRoss Trailblazers Running Club praised his achievement in a social media post following the event.

The club said: "Huge congratulations to club member Gavin Jones, who completed the Merthyr Mawr Rabbit Run 65km Ultra on Saturday.
