The Adam Stansfield Tournament, hosted at the Ross Sports Centre by Ross Juniors on Saturday May 25th, saw a fantastic day of football. As well as the girls tournaments taking place, as reported in last week's Gazette, Ross Juniors also hosted a match for local people with learning difficulties.
The group consisted of clients of the Ryefield Centre and some who live at other residential homes.
Jenny Roper, an Inclusion Development Worker for Social Services, organises the leisure programme for the clients at the Ryefield Centre. She said: "Everyone really enjoyed themselves. The weather was good. I try to put on activities which are fun but which also include exercise."
Chairman of Ross Juniors, Jim Loftus said: "The match started as a 6v6 and we paired some of the less abled players with some players from the club, including my son Sam, and Damon, who both play for Ross Juniors' Sunday team.
"More players joined in as they arrived so the game developed. We did a penalty shoot-out at the end and presented the players with medals."
This was the third match organised between Ross Juniors and the Ryefield Centre.
