Ross Men's 1st XI travelled away to face Gloucester City A in a 2nd vs 3rd encounter, a win would see Ross extend their lead over Gloucester to seven points. From the first whistle it was clear that Gloucester wanted the victory more, showing more desire and passion than Ross.
Gloucester deservedly took the lead and should have put the game beyond doubt as they spurred various glorious opportunities from open play and numerous short corners. Credit must also be given to the Ross keeper George Goldsmith who pulled off various fantastic saves to deny Gloucester.
Ross did manage go into the half time interval level at one all, after Ed Goldsmith latched on to a Tom Walton aerial ball over the top of the Gloucester defence, before squaring the ball to Adrian Williams who slotted the ball under the advancing keeper with a reverse stick shot.
The second half followed the pattern of the first half with the difference that Gloucester found their shooting sticks and netted three goals in the second half to take a 4 – 1 lead.
