Ross suffered a promotion setback on Saturday conceding fives tries and victory against a fluent St Brendans side in Bristol.

After only conceding defeat to league leaders Cryptians in the first six league games, Ross were looking to add another Bristol scalp to the two Bristol away wins already this season, however St Brendans took a early two try lead and Ross were never able to get back into the game and eventually conceded a 33-12 loss, moving them down to mid table in Glos 2. Scrum and lineout were strong from the outset, however in the contact area Ross were outgunned, turning over far too much ball, and it was from these turnovers that the home team scored two quick tries, converting one to take them 12-0 ahead at the end of the first quarter. This seemed to spur Ross into action, Dave Green and Matt Redman started to carry some ball and the Ross pack slowly established some territory in the visitors twenty two, Brendans conceded two penalties and from the ensuing lineouts Ross nearly drove over, however the pressure took its toll eventually when a 5 metre scrum was intentionally wheeled.
